Although not immediately apparent from its title, this entire module will address the art of communication. Both from literal sense (in the "Communications" chapter,) and a broader sense (in "Patient Assessment) where the patient 'communicates' signs and symptoms (verbally or non-verbally) to the EMT, and the EMT communicates a "need to know" to the patient. The information in these two chapters will represent some of THE MOST IMPORTANT data that you will be offered during the entire course. Without the communication skills learned during this part of your course, you will be without "direction." Lost in a confusing world. These essential skill will provide that "direction."

Note from Mr. Corby: Recently, the cost of maintaining these pages has started to "bite" into my budget. I'm not complaining, mind you, the amount of self-satisfaction that I get from your comments about the usefulness of this site, is well worth the expense. One way or another, I will continue to maintain and update these pages for as long as I draw breath. If any of you would like to help by making a small non tax deductible donation (God Bless You,) mail your support to: Emergency Medical Ed, 2053 NW 79 Ave #26211, Miami, FL. 33122. Thank you for your help in keeping this site going.
